Bernadette Kelly
Australian Children's Book Author

Hey There! Thanks for dropping in. I'm the author of the Riding High children’s book series and the Pony Patch children’s book series, and many other middle grade fiction novels, junior chapter books and non fiction information books. You might find my books in your school library or classroom.

I've written books about a wide range of subjects and themes. I am a fellow of The May Gibbs Children’s Literature Trust, and have been a YABBA (Young Australians Best Book Awards) council member. School visits and visits to community groups are a great way for me to meet you, and talk to you about how much fun it can be to read and write stories. If you are from a school, writer's group or community group and would like to talk about a workshop or author talk please feel free to send me an email.

School Visits

"I thought that Bernadette Kelly was very inspirational. – Ben

She was very nice and explained things very well. I learnt that if you want to be a writer never give up and practise a lot. – Ishi

I thought that she was very good. She taught us how to do our story outline and she gave us a few problem ideas. I mixed two of the ideas. I am thinking of being a writer when I grow up. – Chelsea
